Active in Mongolia since 2004,AVSF implements a set of programmes related to the yak fibre and cashmere value chains, sustainable pasture management and animal health. AVSF has been recently granted a project under European Commission’s SWITCH ASIA program. STeP EcoLab II (Sustainable Textile Production – Eco-labelling, phase II) will run for a period of 4 years and start on 2nd January 2024
The project aims to contribute to the transition of Mongolia to a low-carbon, resource efficient and circular economy, whilst promoting more sustainable textile value chain, contributing to economic recovery.
STeP EcoLab II will specifically strive to contribute to integrate Mongolian textile MSMEs into global greener value and supply chains by (i) engaging and supporting MSMEs in the replication of sustainable and certified raw material sourcing mechanisms; (ii) reinforcing the credibility of ecolabelling schemes; (iii) developing a conducive environment for textile processing sector to switch to sustainable production practices.
